Pastor Jerry and Jan Madden currently serve as Senior Pastor of Praise Cathedral, a position they have held since January 1, 2002. Pastor Jerry grew up in a pastor’s home and has been involved in and connected with ministry all his life. After receiving his degree in Computer Programming, he began a very successful business career working with some of the most successful companies in America. Pastor Madden’s career was thriving as he became a featured speaker at trade shows and business conferences, as well as testifying before a United States Senate panel on communication and computer issues. Yet with this success, Pastor Madden did not feel satisfied. In 1994, he accepted the position of part-time Children’s Pastor of Praise Cathedral, having previously served in part time ministry positions at other churches. Four months later he preached his first sermon, and the rest is, as they say, “history”.

In August of that year he left his successful career to enter full time ministry at Praise where he has served in various capacities including: Children’s Pastor. Interim Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor. When Pastor Johnson announced plans for his retirement in 1999 the congregation looked no further than Pastor Madden to lead our church.
Pastor met his beautiful wife., Jan, in 1982 when his father moved to Greenville to assume a new pastorate. Jan attended the University of South Carolina until they were married in 1983. She has faithfully supported and served in ministry with Pastor and is a vital part of our church ministry team.

The Madden’s are blessed with two sons. Bo and his wife Jennifer, who both attended Lee University and currently serve as our Youth Pastors.  They have given our pastor his only grandchild, Natalie, born Dec. 15, 2009.  The Madden’s other son is Justin, a Junior at Lee University where he is a member of the varsity basketball team.
