Devotional
We often think of spiritual leaders as perfect examples of faith and obedience. Yet, Jonah’s story reveals a surprising truth – even God’s chosen prophet struggled with deep-seated prejudice. This reminds us that none of us are immune to harboring biases, even while serving God. The first step in addressing these issues is acknowledging their existence in our hearts. Just as a doctor can’t treat an illness that hasn’t been diagnosed, we can’t address prejudices we refuse to recognize. God’s love extends to all people, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or past mistakes. When we allow prejudice to control our actions, we’re working against God’s plan for reconciliation and unity in the body of Christ.

Bible Verse
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. – Galatians 3:28

Reflection Question
What prejudices might you be harboring that prevent you from fully embracing and loving others as God commands?

Prayer
Lord, reveal to me any hidden prejudices in my heart. Give me the courage to confront these biases and the strength to overcome them through Your love. Help me see others as You see them. Amen.
