Devotional
We often chase after signs and wonders, seeking God primarily for what He can do for us. While miracles are wonderful demonstrations of God’s power, they’re temporary solutions to earthly problems. The blind received sight, but their eyes would eventually close again. Lazarus was raised, but would later face another earthly death. Jesus came to offer something far greater than temporary fixes – He came to provide eternal salvation. When we focus solely on Jesus as a miracle worker, we miss the deeper purpose of His coming. He desires not just to work for us through miracles, but to work in us through transformation.
Bible Verse
“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.” – Isaiah 53:3
Reflection Question
How might your relationship with God change if you focused less on what He can do for you and more on who He is?
Quote
“If Jesus is only for you, a miracle working God, then you’ve missed who he is.”
Prayer
Lord, help me see beyond the miracles to understand Your deeper purpose in my life. Thank You for working not just for me, but in me. Amen.
