Devotional
We often find ourselves creating a comfortable version of Jesus that fits neatly into our lives. Like arranging furniture in a room, we position Him where He’s convenient, not disruptive. But authentic Christianity was never meant to be comfortable. It’s meant to be transformative, challenging, and yes, even disruptive. When we look at Jesus’ transfiguration, we see a glimpse of His true glory – not a tame religious figure, but the magnificent, awe-inspiring Son of God. This revelation should shake us out of our comfort zones and challenge our ‘convenient’ faith. Today, consider where you’ve made Christianity comfortable rather than transformative. Are there areas of your life where you’ve domesticated Jesus to fit your preferences?
Bible Verse
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life have you created a ‘comfortable Jesus’ rather than embracing His true, transformative nature?
Quote
“Be careful bringing Jesus down to a level where you are comfortable with him because He is like no other. There is no one like Him.”
Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I’ve tried to make You fit into my comfortable boxes. Help me see You for who You truly are – the magnificent, uncontainable God of the universe. Give me courage to let You transform every area of my life. Amen.
