The Illusion of Wealth
Devotional
The Laodiceans believed they were rich and in need of nothing, but Jesus saw their true condition: ‘wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.’ Earthly success can often blind us to our spiritual needs. It’s easy to rely on material wealth and achievements, thinking they are indicators of our well-being. However, true richness comes from a deep, abiding relationship with Christ. Reflect on how you measure success in your life. Are you placing more value on material wealth than on your spiritual health?
Bible Verse
‘You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.’ – Revelation 3:17
Reflection Question
How has your perception of wealth and success affected your spiritual life, and what steps can you take to realign your values with God’s perspective?
Quote
Your earthly success has blinded you to the reality of what you really are.
Prayer
Father, open my eyes to see the true state of my heart. Help me to value my relationship with You above all earthly possessions and achievements. Amen.
