Devotional
The gospel is simple yet profound: Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Any addition to this message diminishes its power. We must be cautious not to add rituals or laws that complicate the gospel. Our hope and salvation are found in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. This simplicity is what makes the gospel accessible to all. Let us hold fast to this truth and share it with others in its purest form.
Bible Verse
For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh. – Romans 8:3
Reflection Question
Are there any rituals or traditions you hold onto that might complicate the simplicity of the gospel?
Quote
“Any addition to the gospel nullifies the gospel and nullifies the power of the gospel and nullifies the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.”
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for the simplicity and power of the gospel. Help me to hold fast to this truth and share it with others without adding anything to it. Amen.
