The Work of Regeneration

Devotional
The Holy Spirit’s first work in us is regeneration. He humbles us and reminds us that we are all debtors to the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. This humility is crucial as it keeps us grounded and aware of our dependence on God’s grace. The story of Robert Robinson, who wrote ‘Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing,’ illustrates this transformation. He recognized his need for God’s grace and allowed the Holy Spirit to work in his life. Let us also acknowledge our need for grace and allow the Holy Spirit to regenerate us daily.

Bible Verse
‘But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.’ – Romans 8:9

Reflection Question
How can you daily remind yourself of your dependence on God’s grace?

Quote
‘The first thing the Holy Spirit does in Us as he does the work of regeneration. He humbles us and reminds us, we are all debtors.’

Prayer
Lord, I acknowledge that I am a debtor to Your grace. Humble me and remind me of my need for You every day. Regenerate my heart and mind through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
