The depth of our relationship with God is reflected in our obedience to His commands. When we truly know God’s character – His faithfulness, wisdom, and love – we can trust Him even when His directions don’t make sense to us. Like Jonah, we might struggle with God’s commands when they challenge our understanding or preferences. Yet, true intimacy with God grows as we choose to trust and obey, even in the face of uncertainty.
